Q. My slides are in carousels, boxes or protective slide pages, do I need to remove them?A. You can bring us your slides in any container. We will scan them then return them in the exact order them came out of their container. However if you are shipping your slides to us we recommend removing them from heavy carousels to reduce shipping costs.
Q. How many slides will fit on a Data-DVD?
A. This will vary depending on the resolution and file format you choose. This chart should help give you a good estimate to how many the DVD will hold.
Q. What film sizes can you scan?
A. We can scan 35mm, 110, 126 and 127 film sizes.
Q. Do I need to give you an exact count of slides to be scanned?
A. No. Our scanners will count the number of slides as they are scanned. We will use this number to generate your final invoice amount.
Q. My slides have rounded corners, will I loose part of the image when you crop the picture?
A. No. With the latest version of Photoshop, there is a feature called "Content aware fill" which allows us to fill in the missing areas of your slides from the surrounding area of the image.
Q. What resolution or DPI should I choose?
A. DPI stands for "dots per inch" and is a measurement of how much detail is in your image. We scan at 3 different resolutions: 2,000, 3,000 and 4,000 DPI. View our resolution chart to help decide which resolution is best for you.
Q. How do I know which side is the front of the slide?
A. It can be confusing trying to figure out which why to arrange your slides. In general the side with the logo will be the front. If you have a slide with a sign or text, the text will be backwards when viewed from the front of the slide. Plastic slides will usually say "This side towards screen" somewhere on the front.
